International Museum Day

The ICOM (Internacional Council of Museums) is an international non gouvernamental organization of museums and museology professionals whose main purpose is the conservation and transmission of the natural and cultural heritage.

It was created in 1946 as UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) consultative organ. Today is composed by more than 20.000 members from 140 countries.
The May 18th was designated the Museum Day to emphasize the role displayed by this institutions in the society.

Archaeological Museum José María Soler celebrates this event with different kind of cultural activities: conferences, publications presentations, temporal expositions, etc.
